The End of an Era & the Transition to New Beginnings

It is with a bit of sadness that I must announce Red Tiger Martial Arts is no longer at the Red Bank Rd location as of the end of class tonight. Also, the now former site of the Cincinnati Taekwondo Center, it is now vacant due to the decision of the property owner. In the meantime, we will endure this period of transition while temporarily training in my home training area in Norwood.

It’s a basement. But it is home for now.

There is a Zen Garden with 2 goldfish ponds.

As great of a place as it was to train, grow our numbers, and fellowship with other skilled, humble, and friendly martial artists in the community, I have to believe an even greater opportunity is on the horizon.

The first day.

This was the third commercial space for Red Tiger since its inception, almost 9 years ago. We left our first space in West Chester due to the owner deciding to close up shop in order to focus on a new career path. We left our second space in Evendale during the pandemic, and while we attempted a return, we found that the environment did not seem the best fit for us at that time. That is when our friends at the Cincinnati Taekwondo Center in Fairfax offered us the opportunity to share their great space. However, throughout this journey I have been very fortunate, blessed even, to have encountered people at each of these places that believed in and supported the mission of Red Tiger — Self-improvment through the practice of martial arts for teens and adults.

Each space we have inhabited has been better in some way than the previous one.

Reflecting on our time in the CTC building: It was there where we trained for competitions that resulted in medals on the local, national, and even world stage. It was there where we more than tripled the size of our student body. We were featured on an a regional news segment while training there. This is where a few of us learned to throw knives and axes, lol! Most importanly, we made friends in the martial arts community, with new students that have become loyal veteran students, and with their family members.

Given all we have accomplished, I am excited for what is next.
